Auckland City

As an exciting introduction to our new Inquiry we went into Auckland City to look at all the amazing structures in there - we saw some really cool stuff and enjoyed a beautiful day walking around the best city in the world!  We hope you like our photos!?!

Structure Walk at School

To further spark our interest in our current Inquiry on 'STRUCTURES' we went for a wander around the school to look at some of the structures we could find.  Then we thought about (and discussed) what materials those structures were made from, and what their purpose might be - or why someone made them.

The coolest day at school ever!

We were so spoilt to have the Police Eagle helicopter touch down at our school on Tuesday 31st of May.  Here's a video of it taking off from our rugby field and going back to work - keeping our city safe!  It was an awesome start to our new Inquiry on how people's jobs contribute to society.  You won't need to listen too carefully to hear how excited we all were about the whole thing - and I think many of the boys (and maybe some of the girls) now know what they want to be when they grow up!

We found this cool site where school children in Christchurch have been writing about what it was like for them, and what they were doing, when the big earthquake struck!  Have a look at it and leave a comment if you want to!?!

BDS Supports Christchurch!

Today we brought our coins from home and/or our piggy bank to make a coin trail because the people in Christchurch need our support, and it's something small we can do to help.
We raised an impressive $3,104.80! Check out our whole school photo- Thanks Mr Hayward for climbing on the roof.
